The past few months have been full of so many different emotions. I've been thankful and joyful, but I've also had darker moments of despair, anger, resentment, and doubt. During the low times, I wasn't sure if God heard my prayers, if He cared about our family, if He was really a good God. I never thought I would doubt God's character, but in the depths of trial, I'm sad to say that have.
But isn't it so great that despite the waverings of our hearts, God's character never changes? Even during those times that I pointed my finger at God, He remained the good, loving, sovereign God that He always is. It's a comfort to me that He is always the same.
Looking back, I realize that during the times that I thought God wasn't listening to my earnest cries, there He was, listening patiently. I think He was waiting to answer when HE thought it was good. He used the low points to make me realize that I am ABSOLUTELY needful of Him, that I can do NOTHING on my own. I love Psalm 34.
Verse 15 The eyes of the Lord are toward the righteous and His ears are open to their cry.
Verse 18 The Lord is near to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit.
So far, He has answered so many of our requests. And thank you for praying alongside us. He is listening to you!
Just a quick update on Marcus: His vision has improved. No clear diagnosis yet on his eye condition, but it looks like he is steadily improving. Occupational therapy has started once a week and the therapist is encouraged by the things Marcus is doing. We still have a ways to go before he catches up with the rest of his age, but we are trusting in the Lord's timing. So far, his kidneys are clean and we will check them annually. Some doctors have confirmed a diagnosis of Joubert Syndrome, one doctor still wants to wait and see.
It's comforting to know that although we do not know everything about Marcus' condition, the Lord does. It reminds us that we are all under God's care.
Lastly, here are some photos of the kiddos.
Marcus is such a happy kid.
So is his older sister
Why is it SO hard to take pictures of the kids together? This one was the best one on Christmas.
This one's my favorite: Poor Marcus is in a pink blanket. Sorry, buddy! Audrey is being her silly self. Ha ha!
Thanks for reading, everyone. Until the next update!
