Paparazzi Fail

On the way to Marcus' school today, Derek was grumpy and crabby due to an interrupted nap and a nasty diaper rash. Usually, Marcus will tell him to stop crying in a not-so-nice manner, but I guess he decided to be the helpful brother today. I heard him say, "It's okay, Derek," and proceeded to reach across to hold his hand.

When I parked the car at school, I realized that the boys were both quiet, peacefully holding each others' hand. Completely smitten by this and thankful that they actually DO love each other, I told them not to move because I was going to take a picture. Marcus, totally thrilled that I would document this one moment that he was actually looking out for his brother, lit up with a huge smile and was ready to flash his camera-ready smile. Derek, on the other hand, decided that he wanted nothing to do with it and that holding hands was not his thing.

...which led to this...

Lesson learned: When your sons are having a moment, don't mess it up by trying to take a picture of it.  It will lead to rage and a screaming fit.
